December 3, 2024 Update from Rarotonga, Cook Islands:

END OF AN ERA – After 36 seasons this upcoming November New Zealand and May-July Scottish Isles training expeditions will be my last. What a fabulous time it’s been, exploring some of the most remote and exciting cruising areas in the world while training 1800 sailors how to sail their own boats safely anywhere in the world. I’ve recently assisted Julie and Gio Cappelli setting up their own sail-training program in the PNW and also Ken Parker who will shortly be announcing his training program for Haida Gwaii and later Caribbean.

2025 Scotland expeditions dates are posted here: https://mahina.com/sailing-schedule/ and applications are arriving at a record pace. These will be the only expeditions for 2025 and if they continue to fill at the current rate should all be sold out within the next month or so.

Check out new list of seminar co-presenters and colleagues HERE. My goal is to make this Team Mahina page a resource linking to my trusted colleagues around the world, saving you time and money.

Just updated BOATS TO CONSIDER FOR OFFSHORE CRUISING LIST I’ve just totally gone through updating, adding and eliminating boats from my four-page list of 158 builders and 424 models worldwide, based on recent findings and input from surveyors, boatyards and owners worldwide. Click HERE for the updated list.

VIRTUAL MAHINA SEMINAR with ebook version of the 260-page Offshore Cruising Companion completed and available!
